When a person has certain conditions like clenching, bruxism, or has been taking some medication, the natural teeth undergo various changes. These changes could be generalized attrition, wear and tear, loss of a part of the natural tooth, or the complete loss of a natural tooth.
This can further lead to trauma from occlusion, loss of natural bite, and pressure on TMJ. This changes the whole organic balance of the oral cavity.
Whenever there is a clinical presentation of these symptoms, there is a need for full mouth rehabilitation.
Dr. Ajay Mishra has an advanced certification in Full Mouth Rehabilitation. He has been working on such complex cases with Dr. Pallvi Taneja and empowering people with confident smiles.

Full Mouth Rehabilitation
What is done in Full Mouth Rehabilitation?
Full mouth rehabilitation is the combined name given to the procedures that are done to restore the complete functionality of the oral cavity. This includes restoring the compromised teeth, providing a replacement of the missing teeth, and bite restoration.
Saving the natural teeth: Depending upon the situation of the natural teeth, various options can be done for their correction.
- Composite fillings: The teeth that have minor caries or artefacts can be restored with the help of tooth-coloured composite resins. These tooth coloured fillings render the teeth back to their natural colour and shape.
- Root canal procedure: Various other teeth that have undergone abrasion and attrition and are sensitive to hot and cold can be treated with the help of Root canal Therapy. We have been performing painless, one sitting root canals at our clinic. The treated teeth can be made functional with the help of post and core and crowns.
- Post and core: This is a procedure done when there is inadequate tooth structure left. Post is a prosthetic device placed inside the canal after a root canal procedure is done. The missing tooth structure is replaced with the help of the core. The post could be made up of metal or fiber. The core can be made up of metal alloys or dental filling material.
Replacing the missing teeth: This can be done with the help of :
- Implants: If adequate bone support is present and the patient does not have any major systemic disease, then implants are the ideal choice of replacement for a missing tooth. Implants provide the most natural substitution for a missing tooth. Dental implants have high durability and a success rate. The placement of implants in place of a missing tooth also helps in the preservation of the surrounding alveolar bone. We at Vasai Dental Care and Implant Clinic provide all sorts of implant solutions.
- Fixed Partial dentures: Fixed partial dentures or bridges have been used for a long time for the replacement of missing teeth. The bridges can be made in different materials like PFM (Porcelain fused to Metal), Full Ceramic, and Zirconia. A fixed partial denture involves the preparation of the adjacent teeth. After that, an impression is taken and sent to the lab. Once the bridges come from the lab, they can be fixed to the teeth with the help of permanent cementation material. The fixed partial denture lasts for around 10-15 years. The only drawback is that the abutment teeth can become sensitive over some time or can have caries as well.
- Overdentures: Overdentures are removable prostheses that take support and rest on the roots of natural teeth or dental implants. They can either be implant-supported or tooth-supported. By preserving the remaining teeth, the alveolar bone is preserved and the process of complete dentures can also be delayed. With the preservation of natural teeth, the proprioception of the periodontal membrane is also maintained. The patients have a better acceptance of the dentures.
- Partial dentures: If the patient does not want to get fixed dentures or implants, then cast partial, acrylic, or flexible partial dentures can be placed in the place of missing teeth.
